Gabriela Maura: Undergraduate Researcher

Gaby is a Microbiology and Psychology double major at the University of Florida interested in the development, prevention, and treatment of disease across the lifespan. Outside of academia, her interests include dancing with the Dancing Gators, educating the community about the importance of vaccinations, and volunteering at the Hope Lodge and Abraham Lincoln Middle School with the Society of Viral Studies. She has been involved with Dr. Ostrov’s lab for two years and is currently Lab Assistant. She has enjoyed learning how to purify protein from bacterial inclusion bodies, dock large libraries of small molecules onto proteins, and overall learn how the currently available technology can be used to find better treatments for people with a wide variety of diseases.  She is currently applying to medical schools and will be graduating Spring 2013.
